WILDMARK

WILDMARK is a solo journaling creature collector. Each Hunt you draw a card from a regular deck of playing cards to find the Sign of an original creature, roll to see if you can get close without spooking it, and then decide for yourself: catalogue it, tame it, or let it go. Whatever you choose gets written into a growing Bestiary — which is really the whole point of the game.

There's no permadeath here, and no existing franchise doing the imaginative work for you: every creature, Family and location is original. The only thing at stake in a Season is how complete — and how honest — your Bestiary ends up being before the wildlife grows too wary of you and the Season closes. It's a monster-taming game at a naturalist's pace: quieter, slower, and yours.

What you need: a standard 52-card deck, one six-sided die, a pencil, and however long you want to spend in a sitting — Hunts are short, Seasons are as long as you make them.

Inside the 18-page book — laid out as a naturalist's field guide, with hand-drawn track marks for the four Families and generous space to write:

- The full rules for the Hunt and the Approach roll

- Four creature Families, and Fieldcraft that grows the more you learn about each

- A Trust and Convergence system that rewards both bold hunting and deliberate restraint

- Four Ranger archetypes with their own bias and once-per-Season ability

You get the same book as two PDFs, one laid out for A4 and one for US Letter, so it prints correctly wherever you are — or reads comfortably on a tablet.
